Raindrops
Life is filled with little nuggets of brilliance,
those unexpected moments that spark creation in one’s heart.
They dig out those neglected childhood smiles,
and lighten the heavy burdens that inevitably follow all.
Saturday morning cartoons with a bowl of Frosted Flakes.
The butterflies that form as a roller coaster loops.
But nothing compares to that soothing sound,
the crisp tapping of raindrops against my window.
The vibrant ombré of a morning sunrise.
Dim candlelight in the darkness of midnight.
Yet nothing can match the invigorating feeling,
the crisp tapping of raindrops against my window.
Perky wags of a golden retriever’s tail.
The window seat of an airplane as it soars towards the sky.
Still there’s nothing quite like those grey luscious clouds,
the crisp tapping of raindrops against my window.
Each slight rap builds serenity in my soul,
calming my mind and inspiring a burst of ingenuity.
With Mother Nature right outside my front door,
imagination takes flight and my raindrops take over.
