Rainy day memory

A drizzle of no consequence Sprinkles mercury holes On the frogs pond in the darkness Of monsoon afternoons The holes in the dust The viscous puddles of clay Grey-brown frogs croak haikus Where are those lotus leaves Where is the splash Of an ignited frog The late afternoon outside the window Lashes at the dull panes With nimbus reflections And intermittent flashes of nostalgia An aroma of old books Hot coffee mugs And of hardy unread The chill clings to the calves Chill hands that tremble In the armpits And the chatter of teeth Idle rain on the window sills of pigeons With wet feathers And a crow that looks elsewhere The coffee congeals On that rainy day of no consequence I find nothing to remember you by
