Rainy Days
I used to hate those rainy days,
I couldn't go outside to play with friends.
I used to hate looking outside my window and seeing rain and gray skies,
I used to see the gray sky and become sad and depressed.
I grew up in the north and I was used to those days every once in a while,
but now its different.
I now live down south where those rainy days are scarce,
Its always sunny and hot and I’m always wearing shorts.
Whenever it does rain it only lasts for 10 minutes,
The rain will come down hard for a short period then stop.
The blue sky will come back out and the sun will shine,
Those gray clouds recede and it is hot all over again.
I moved down here to escape those rainy days,
and at first I loved the sunny days all the time.
But now I look outside and see the sun every day,
and all I can think about is rain.
The one thing I moved so many miles to escape,
is all Im thinking about when I feel the sun rays hit my skin.
I find myself listening to sad songs at night,
picturing those old rainy days up north.
I now sit here in the sun surrounded by happiness,
but all I can think about is rain.
