rainy ramshackled resentments

I sit as the raindrops are drumming
Racing along down the roof
Chasing the thoughts that keep running
Searching for viable proof

To counter the words that they'd whisper
Creeping along through your mind
Tearing out paths through the memories
Of all that you knew once as kind

You tell me of how you feel hollow,
Used up like plants now withered away
I wish that the path you could follow
Was one you discovered today

But even as I write these words out,
As hopefully as they are construed,
I know it as painfully futile
And all that you see is dark blue
