raising a glass to new friends

today i strip down

into the rawest parts of myself

and i soak in lavender and rose petals

and thoughts of warm days

until my skin wrinkles up and my head starts to ache

i crawl out of the tub

and hang myself out to dry

a little more time in the mirror this morning

because life calls for a steady woman today
