Ramadan

Eleven months out of twelve I delve deep into the abyss

Can't  resist licking my lips at all the quips and tricks the world has to offer

I offer my prayers rarely

but then, Ramadan rolls around

I stop and sit and think

Let the last trickle of water hit the back of my throat

it'll be dry and crackle for 18 hours

my breath will probably give off a foul smell

I'll try not to get mad

I'll resist negativity

one month out of twelve I become a buddhist

meditate mind and soul and body

hush my lips

unfurl my fist

unburden my mind

relax those hips

I will free myself from wordly tension

because enlightenment is within, literally:

notice hunger pangs?

pray for the hungry

noticing your anger?

pray for the angry

Notice each time you notice you know this:

You are Aware.

Let awareness spread.
