Ramblings of an Unarticulated Youth
Who are you?
Have we met?
Oh I guess I should've recognized you
From the lying
And looked right past you
From the shallow
Exterior you put on
You play the victim
Everyday you lie
To me, to yourself, to everyone
You play pretend
But that's what you do best, isn't it?
You lie.
You even pretend to understand
And play the victim of serious situations
That you created.
You were never the victim of that person.
You were never the loving girlfriend
You were never my best friend
And you are definitely not the victim of me.
Everything that happened
Was justified by how you made me feel
Every day we were together.
You lied to me, constantly
You twisted my perspective
You made me feel sorry for you
You made me feel trapped in my own relationship
You made me trust you.
And what did you do?
Everyday you put up a mask for the whole world to see
But that's what you're good at, right?
Always the little actress
You would never admit that you lied
It took me a lot of thinking
To see through you
You never cared about me
Don't even say that
Don't even admit to a mutual friend that you still love me
Because you don't
If you did
You wouldn't have treated me like that.
So don't get upset
Because I sought out comfort in someone else
Comfort that you didn't provide.
Comfort from you
Comfort away from you
So I could pretend I wasn't
The piece of gum
You chewed up
And spit out
