A Rant
Why is it that you can gossip about other students
But yet you can't help out that kid over there getting bullied?
Why is it that the bell doesn't release us
But if we are late, we get chided for tardiness
Even if its just a second or two...
Oh my I didn't realize I missed NOTHING of class
Please count me tardy
Or why is it that you must single out that kid
Who falls asleep in class, for good reason
Maybe he was up late last night doing your homework
Maybe she works a job that goes late into the night
Or maybe they don't even have a bed to sleep in
Try and take the time to know them
Before you come down in harsh judgement
You are not God
You do not know what goes on at home
Or inside them
But wait you must go by the book right?
It's "the rules", written by people
Who have never truly been in a classroom
Oh you haven't graded my papers yet?
Cause you have other papers to grade?
Well sorry but I have other teacher's homework to do
Learning should be an enjoyable experience
Not the experience that today's society has created
Dull, boring, uncreative and gray
Where the students are told what to think
Told what they should be
Where they are just passed along
Even if they learned squat
Students should want to learn
To quench their thirst for knowledge
Students should want to come to school
Students should be absorbing actual knowledge
Like a sponge absorbs water
Not just memorizing formulas, theories, vocabulary
But knowing to apply it to real life situations
That is what true learning is all about
