Rapunzel and the Crane

A story of girl who locked herself away

Her locks of streaming silver array

Rapunzel was her name.

A story of a crane who wanted a friend

Asked for a witch to help them in the end.

Together tied into one

The girl locked in a tower she made

Fearful of others and life itself

The Crane who watched from afar wishing to talk

Wanting only a day

Both greedy for themselves

Yet much too fearful of their wants

Helping each other

The girl realized that the tower was not a place to live

The Crane came to say goodbye only to leave with the girl by its side

Together they wandered, free and joyful until their dying days.

Smiles shared between two

“Where should we go today?"

A greedy smile

Eyes bright in their excitement

Blooming forget-me-nots at their side

“Anywhere. Today, tomorrow, and the next we’re free to be."
