Rapunzel's Friend

Sat, 08/12/2017 - 19:32 -- RBoy

Rapunzel was up in a tower, it’s true;

She was so lonely it made her blue.

She let her hair grow long to cover her face,

For her evil grandmother said she was a disgrace.

No one was there to say better things to her,

As no one else knew she was there.

But then one day a boy came near,

And walked through the forest- he had no fear.

He’d brought his drone along the way,

And thought the tower a perfect place to play.

Up zoomed the drone to scout the wall

Where the boy could not see, for the tower was tall.

All of a sudden, there was a noise above him

Just as his drone’s camera showed a window’s rim

Up it went, a little more

And saw a girl inside, on the floor.

She looked surprised, and then quite curious.

“What are you?”, she asked, “I hope not dangerous.”

From down below, the boy could just hear her

“It’s a drone,” he said loudly, “There’s no danger.”

She jumped a little, stood up, and peered down.

Then she noticed the boy standing on the ground.

“Hello!” she shouted, suddenly filled with glee,

“Do you think you could play with me?”

“Of course!” he said, “That sounds like fun!”

And with that, their friendship had begun.

They found ways to play, despite the distance,

Catch and frisbee, just with a slight difference.

The window was higher than the boy could throw,

So he’d fly his drone back with the toy in tow.

The two enjoyed their games for the rest of the day,

But the time came when the boy had to go away.

“It’s been fun playing with you,” he said.

Rapunzel smiled back and nodded her head.

“I’ll be back tomorrow,” the boy called to his new friend

And Rapunzel’s heart began to mend.

She pulled her hair behind her ears

And never again cried lonely tears.
