Rapunzel's lament

Once upon a time she was black

Once upon a time she was a girl

Once upon a time she was a black girl with black girl curls

and a beauty care routine to match

Once upon a time Rapunzel had length

hair grew past her waist

it embraced her dusk face

Once upon a time She was the sun hugged by clouds all around

Her hair kinked and curled but she wouldn't exchange it for anything in the world

or so she thought

Once upon a time people are jealous

Once upon a time people are manipulative

Once upon a time Rapunzel was tricked

Tricked into believing her afro hair that kissed the sky

wasn't alright

because The townspeople looked at it with distaste

Disgust written on wrinkled faces and hearts filled with hate

Once upon a time they judged without shame

Rapunzel left in pain over something she coudn't change

Once upon a time she bought shears

Once upon a time everyone could hear the despair that emitted from her tower

Wailing screeching desperate cries going on for hours

Once upon a time it was gone

over

She had done what she thought she needed to do

Once upon a time while walking through the town

her unique tresses were no where to be found

Once upon a time the Townspeople looked and stared and watched and glared

and said "I wonder why Rapunzel did that to her kinky hair"
