Rare and Pure and Perfect

Human nature is a tricky lie,

When truth’s revealed, secrets die.

Mistakes and promises intermixed

Break the problem nearly fixed.

Defects unveil lovers’ disgust,

Reversing all romances into lust.

On occasion there are a few

Who see the world with an open view.

But faults appear and rent apart

Most lovers’ gentle, now wounded hearts.

To love and be loved-

A dream fallen short of.

But to love despite,

To see one’s true light,

To know the flaws and love them too,

To grasp for that unattainable view,

To glance at someone and truthfully care,

Is perfect and pure and terribly rare.
