Rare Is The Way
Rare is the way, on which I walk my days
Dare to stray through untouched sequestered glades
Go glare at the sleeping shade
So if look befall you, slow skip the snare
The prime sower, of bittersweet unawares!
And, if by chance you catch a glimmering glance
Of leaf scattered sun-dance
Think of it as a reminder rudimentary
Of life's brief, flickering fantasy-romance
Like the soft, wind-whistling summer leaf
Though spare a thought for the tragedy
That is life's many gifts to fall upon deaf ears
And, so slow go the years
Friendly fears replaced by nothing but trembling tears
So now the rich-green leaf turns frail, crisp and sere
There is a lesson to be learnt here, my dears
