Rasasvada

As we grow up,

Like vines clinging to a lattice,

We hold on to anything.

Just to update our relationship status.

Early in life,

Do we learn the word love?

Using it time and time again,

Until it becomes something to get rid of.

As children,

None of us really know that world,

At least in the manner, it’s intended.

For we spend our lives searching for that dream world.

A smoky haze of stupid feelings and actions.

I thought I began to know that word once again,

Until my heart saw the hole in his,

And the universe was swallowed in a black hole.

He took my hope in anyone that is.

As today,

I spend my evenings trapped in a maze.

While others dwell in that funny little word,

All the while my heart lays still in my chest and my eyes glazed.

I’m not a child playing house anymore,

I have no faith in such a thing.

Maybe my soul’s gone bitter,

But I do not need a king.

Perhaps I sound like a mad hornet,

But who wouldn’t?

After spending sleepless nights and long days,

People don’t realize the things that shouldn’t or couldn’t,

Happen to a fifteen-year-old.
