Razor's Edge
Invisible,
or perhaps you're just blind.
Unsighted
Out of mind and left behind.
Stranded in a rift of despair, searching for a way out,
craving for a chance to reverse time.
Restart.
Reactivate.
WAKE UP!
Sleeping in ignorance, my dreams became reality.
Not aware of the tragedy
that stood before me,
Which was in fact myself focusing too close to see my own destiny.
Can it be?
Is my fate decided by the way I see?...
Myself.
Waking to shadows, the innermost sanctum of my own captive thoughts
Has been bought,
sold,
altered and distorted.
But I remember those things that most forget.
I brood over past regrets never letting myself consign to oblivion,
injustice,
the wrongs,
and my broken heart.
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.
Equivocate,
exaggerate,
and falsify.
A lie used to hide a razor’s edge.
Sweet tasting poison on the lips of humanity,
seeping into the blood stream creeping slowly,
and destroying silently.
Tongues like swords we hack down whoever we think deserves it,
throwing judgments upon those who were never meant to carry such a weight.
Like snakes our words paralyze with a blinding and venomous spit,
and we take it upon ourselves to decide whose lives are left to fate.
Watch what you say.
Yes, you can actually see your words:
See them cut down at the knees those who are close to you;
See them impale your friends upon a barbed spike of lies that didn’t cross your mind twice;
See them bleed dry the ones you love.
And the thing that truly amazes me,
that final straw is when I see,
Those lost…
Those who know what they do when they let their tongues run free.
Walking carelessly,
not only acknowledging their carnage,
but enjoying and savoring what they see.
Blades, yes, double-edged swords
swinging care free,
killing intentionally.
You see, people have begun to underestimate,
what it means to love and have instead turned to hate.
The number of people who give up on life because of something you said…….
It grows at an exponential rate.
Some retaliate,
restarting a vicious cycle.
And others who know the power of their words,
wince in silence at the bite of a poisoned edge,
attempting not to validate the falsehoods that assault them.
“Forgive us!” We cry from a place of desperation and fear, hoping that we are not too late.
This double edged sword, yes it cuts for you,
But in the end even you will be run through.
I have noticed that there is an absence
of people who listen to or even have a conscience.
This is not just some coincidence,
this is an attack from the enemy to divide us
and erase from our minds…
Laughter,
that thing that heals,
that one thing that you’re after,
that little thing that reveals, a broken spirit.
Peace,
something to help you sleep,
and gives you a release.
A permanent fix that you can keep.
A hug from my father,
A warm embrace
to ease the pain,
and be your saving grace.
He died for me,
and for you.
He loves us,
and he is the one we can trust.
Be still......
Stop for a moment and realize
that we are his prize.
We are not and never will be invisible.
