Reaching Acceptance
I couldn’t breathe.
Every night,
I would lie awake.
My lungs
would scream for air.
To feel something.
To cry.
I needed to.
I wanted to.
But I couldn’t.
I needed it to hurt.
So I knew
you were still there.
And I think what hurt the most-
Was knowing that
you’ll never know how much
you hurt me.
And I’ll
just have to live with that.
Always being reminded
that
I was in love with someone,
who
wasn’t in love with me.
