Read Between the lines

When it comes to showing feelings
I hide the truth in what I say,
Work for the truth if you dare
For I keep my feelings hidden away.

I say I’m fine when I’m not
Say nothing’s wrong when something is,
Fake a smile and fool them all
They don’t know me enough to pass a quiz.

Hidden away in the shadows
Where I hold onto every lie,
Chaos rules my life
As I continue to cry.

I’m not okay
I’m perfectly fine,
Can’t you see I’m upset
Can’t you see the sign.

Please don’t leave me
Please just go away,
I can’t take no more
Now it’s hard to stay.

On the outside I’m happy
On the inside I’m dead,
Life has no purpose
So I’ll just stay in bed.

You see me smiling
But don’t see the signs,
Well here’s an idea
Read between the lines.

I'm currently attending community college but in my free time I write. I'm only 4"9 but I've got a big heart. I was in band and play flute and I absolutely love dogs. I'm always coming up with a new idea for a poem and it is now the way I express myself. Nowadays I submit my poems for contest before publishing them here.
