Reading Myself to Sleep

my eyes are half lidded, almost shut as they drag across words printed crisply on yellowed paper, tainted by age. i'm almost asleep, so much so that i am gone, gone to the world being crafted by these variations of twenty-six symbols. before i am too far gone, though, i take time to wonder who else has visited the world to which i am retreating.
