Reading Romans 8:1-4 on the Beach.

It was a day like any other, I sat upon the beach

Hungry like no other, I was like a leech

Stuffing sand into my mouth, washed down by foam

The crashing waves my neighbors, the sand, my home.

When tired I would rest, my eyes open in the water

Never the thought of others, nor of slaughter

Baked from the sun and all dried out

I thought I knew my course, what I was about.

On that day, screams came, ringing to my head

But I could not hear the words of their mouth, the things they said,

“Turn around and run away” was all I could grasp

But to leave my food and drink, an unthinkable task

They had almost left that day, those shouting mouths

Running to join the seemingly, unnoiticable crowds

When something came in clearly, I cannot say now

The Cross, the Nails, the Man, the God, I saw Him now

I was now in shadow as I saw the wave

Higher than a skyscraper, who can save

I opened my eyes and the sand fell out

My ears cleared, I lost my doubt

Sheilded by another, concentrated on Him

His name was Jesus Christ, he bore my sin

And the wrath was poured on Him as I stoody by

I was forgiven, I could finally cry.

The wave receded back to it’s home

One day to rise up, no blood to atone

One day He rose up, after the wave

My God, my love, the Holy One, only You can save.
