Ready To Not Try Again

Ready to not try again

Just like the bird,

with my head down and hidden face

shadows covering my fragile emotions

shaking and rattling

like the humming bird taking flight,

flying away from the lost battle

ashamed, defeated, stumped all over

heart broken, ready to give up

like the leaf falling to the ground,

not able to support itself during winter

changing its image from green to a chestnut brown,

relieved when landing softly on the dead grass

knowing no more effort and weight has to be put on

the poor fragile leaf

The same feelings as the caterpillar

in the beak of the mighty bird

that tried to fight with all its power,

but at last giving in,

accepting its death

But as soon as the bird took flight

it loosened its grip,

giving the caterpillar a second chance to live,

using it’s last bit of strength to jump

into the soft dirt,

but either way, it still

jumps to its doom

Even if the bird tried to help,

the caterpillar goes

ending his life by itself
