The Real America
All my life, I have wanted to come to America
“The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave”
Growing up in a place, such as Africa, life is awful
People get murdered
People get raped
People get kidnapped
People hurt people for no apparent reasons
So I came to America thinking life will be great
I will have freedom
I will get to do what I want, when I want
But None of this happened
I was discriminated for everything
My skin color
My hair
My clothes
My religion
My everything
I have lived in America for about 2 years now
Life isn’t any better than it was in Africa
I can’t do anything I want
I have no money
I have no job
I have no home
I have no friends
I have no family
I thought America was going to be great
I thought America was going to be home
America is not home
America is far from home
I walk down the streets
Desperately, trying to find something to eat
I have witnessed things, no one should ever witness in their life time
I have seen people get stabbed to death
I have seen people get robbed, and shot in the head
I have seen people kidnap little children
As they scream for their mommies and their daddies
I have seen girls get raped
I have seen everything
I stand there acting like I didn’t see anything, because I fear for my life
I know how these girls feel
I have been raped
The first time I saw someone get murdered
The man, who killed the innocent man
Brought over his gang and they all raped me and told me not to tell
Or I would get something worse the next time
But what could be worse?
I am living in America, anything can happen
I am living in America the land of opportunity
The opportunity to rape
The opportunity to kill
The opportunity to kidnap
The opportunity to do anything and everything bad
I live in America
“The land of the Fearful and the home of the Suffering”
