The Real Athlete
My body shakes as i nervously step onto the court
when they announce my name is just one of my favorite parts.
The key moment in my life has now arrived
I'll never give up until the day that i die.
Sweat, tears, blood, and talent have guided this team
We gave it all to be in this very spot
Basketball has always been my most meaningful dream.
People say that I'm real good and i know how to play
What they don't know is how much i dedicate myself each and everyday
It's not just a sport; it's not just a game.
I don't judge a player based on their name.
You have to look at their eyes and see what they feel
Are they here for the laughs and fun?
Or are they in it for real?
With every dribble and every single shot i take
Comes a pure-blooded athlete that strives for no mistakes.
Every single practice, game, shoot-around, I give it all I got
Some players don't look at the game the way i do
But nobody else would see it plainly if they had my train of thought.
Basketball is not my game, my sport, or my life
It's much more than that, the one vision that's undoubtedly in my site.
When you love the game and play like nothing anyone has ever seen before
That doesn't come from genetic talent or working hard on the floor.
It comes from much more than that. When do i even begin?
From the time i was three or from the time i was ten?
You can look at my life from any age, any place, and see the true start
For me, I was born with the desire of basketball imprinted in my heart.
