Real Love is Work

You have commitment issues, And I am obsessive. How we can function happily Is beyond impressive. But it's not always A walk on the beach: Sometimes you pull away Just as I reach. I recognize when you need space, So instead of pressing "send", I try to keep my mind off of you And I tend to reach for a pen. Although I am not sure How you compensate for me, I know that you must, Because you let me be me. Some think that "love" should be free: Never contained. But real love is work; Without compromise, it is strained. And so I write my feelings out, Because it is what I must do, Not only for me, But because I love you.
