The Real Me.
Everyday many of us take pictures and videos of our selves
It's no secret we all crave attention from others and I am no exception because I crave it to.
The attention we crave is positive attention becasue we want to feel good about ourselves.
It constantly runs through our minds that we'll get that positive attention through filtered pictures,
but is that even the real me anymore?
Yeah, I feel good about myself but the picture is filtered and it hides me and my stories.
So what if I stripped away those layers of filters?
To be able to see the true color of my eyes and how brown they are.
To see how bright my smile actually is.
To see how curly my hair is and the way it sticks out in different directions,
to see all the natural highlights in the dark brown.
What about the scars from acne?
It's ok those don't define me.
What about the wrinkles by my eyes?
It's ok that means I let the world see my smile often.
The t-shirt I wear that was hidden from the filter?
That's my favorite band.
Those earbuds I always have in every picture?
They are always playing music and filling my mind with lyrics.
The way I always touch my hair with my fingers?
That's me feeling anxious and nervous.
My eyes hold stories, memories, and adventures,
both sad and happy but how could anyone see if I'm always hiding behind different walls?
Amaro, Aden, Mayfair, Hudson
How can I tell my stories when I'm hiding behind these virtual walls?
It's time I broke down the walls and let the world know about my stories and adventures and how much I love myself by living my life to its fullest.
The real me.
The one who has many scars from acne.
The one who has even more scars on her body from taking chances at the beach and concerts.
The one who has very curly drak brown hair.
The one who has dark brown eyes to match her hair.
The one who adores music and is always listening to it and playing her guitar.
The one who dreams of fictional characters because of all the books she reads.
The one who loves to dress up but loves her band shirts even more.
The one who can tell a story with a single picture and no filter.
She is the real me.
