The Real Me
Always chasing
Dead dreams
Roads that lead
You nowhere fast
Heading straight
Into the past
You remember me
As I was
Back then
Back when
It was simple
Back then
Back when
It was easy
I wish
You could remember
Me now
You mean well
You don't understand
When I say it hurts like hell
When you take my hand
And pull
Push it out
The ugly
The scarred
The damage in me
Shut your eyes
Pretend you can't see
Always running
Turn your cheek
Act as if it isn't there
Until I leave
And you're alone
Searching
For what never was
Never could be
You and me
Lost in the dust
You want it
So bad
You can't see
The ground
Beneath
Your very feet
You can't see
What you don't believe
And if you don't see
The real me
We're going nowhere
Your head
Lost in the clouds
If only you knew
If only
I could get to you
Get through
So believe
What you will
What you can handle
I'll keep breaking
Right in your very hands
Right before
Your very eyes
Just keep selling me
Those pretty lies
Just keep telling yourself
I'll be fine
In time
We'll make it out alive
But what kind of life
Is it just to survive
Tell me
Baby boy
What kind of love
Do you want
Because
The kind we got
Is smoke and mirrors
Me hanging on
You searching fog
Hunting me down
Let downs
Heart break
If I had the strength
The courage
I would tell you
You may love me
But you never had me
If you can't see
Can't love
The real me
