The Real Me
The person on the outside
Is just a shell
An armor I wear
To conceal the
Pain, lies and weakness
The soft meat of my
True psyche
By day, I’m seen
As a strong, loyal and
Courteous man
Though by night
I’m a weak, depressed
And angry boy
The truth is who I am
In the darkness.
From time to time you
Will see my armor slip
My weakness is revealed
And you see me in a different light
Sometimes you can’t forgive me
For the lie of who I am
Other times you know of my potential
And support me you try
To hold the darkness back
Once in a while the darkness will win
While I am able to fight it
It does retreat but it always
Comes back
Recently I have felt
The freedom from the darkness
Day by day I have grown stronger in
My fight against my inner darkness
I will vanquish it
And my armor will soon be free of all cracks,
Fractures and dents.
All I have to do is take the first step.
