The Real me Set Free

There was time when I used to have this urge inside to blend in with everyone else.

There was a desire to be and look just like all the others, but I could never fulfill it.

I was not one to believe in pretending.

For a little while I came to a fork in my path, and it was one that I could not avoid.

I had two options.

I could disguise myself to be like everybody else,

or I could be who I knew I was meant to be and stand alone.

After a long while of pondering within my mind of the outcomes that would occur with either choice I

made, realization set in.

One choice would lead me to feel acceptance, but I would never be able to show my true colors and

I would be completely trapped behind a mask.

The latter choice would not lead me to a world of acceptance, but it would lead me to a life of

being free and true to myself.

So, as time proceeded onward, I made my choice and it still sticks with me to this day.

I stand alone but I am who I was always meant to be.

I am free to let my own true colors shine through.

Today I am and always will be the real me set free.
