The Real Selfie
People love selfies,
That is just the case
People don't want us to see,
Past their filtered face
Sometimes I am that person
who hides behind the screen
But those who really know me
know the story behind the scenes
In pictures I am tagged in
or the ones I do not post,
My face is far from perfect
My skin as white as a ghost
I'm caught off guard or laughing too hard
and my hair is just a mess
There's food on my face or I'm in a daze
Not thinking to impress
Those pictures are not filtered
They don't enhance my face
But they portray the real me
The one I must embrace
I know I can be that person
Who only wants to show
The part of me that isnt real
Where the brightness is on low
But one day when the filters
disappear and fade away
I will still be left with the beauty
that lies beyond my filtered face
