The Realest Friend

My mentor, my friend

She listens 'til the end.

If I'm not being real

She gives me a spiel:

"Give me raw emotion.

Recount your devotion.

Describe your travesty.

Renounce his vanity.

Give me all your feelings.

Tell me 'bout your demons.

Tell me 'bout your angels.

Write and write for ages.

Don’t feed me lies.

Don’t paint pretty skies.

If you're filled with pain,

Release it from your brain.

Don’t let our society

Make you sit quietly.

Don’t let the large sum

Keep you from your poem."
