Reality

I realized I wasn't a kid anymore when my mom told me that we didn't have money,

that we were in a diffciult place finacially; beng the first child, her words immediately

added six years to my age. Instead of carelessy playing, desring toys, fun, or ice cream

like othe kids, I silenced my desires as well as my sibings', in order to keep my parents' joy.

I realized I wasn't a kid anymore when I quietly thought about my future while others had

adventure, not as a kid dreaming of becoming a mermaid, but as one thinking about how

difficult my residental years, as a surgeon is going to be.

I realized I wasn't a kid anymore when reality started to weign me down, before I dreamt

uncontrollably, I wanted this and that, I believed in myself even when others didn't, now I'm

more practical....in a way more hopeless and faithless.

I realize I am not a kid anymore when responsibility out weighs everything

I realize I am not a kid anymore when I see the world, my goals and obstacles that await me.
