Reality Check
Let me give myself a reality check:
My life is a mess, better yet a wreck.
Heartbreak is as common as a cold,
failure comes around like a merry-go-round.
And I do nothing, but sit here helplessly waiting for Superman to come.
And then when he doesn't come,
You see me reinstating myself in reality.
Let me be honest, I’m driven by insanity and the adrenaline in my blood.
People ask me about my ambitions
And I don’t have any because I don't know if I’ll see tomorrow or even finish today.
There goes another one, another reality check.
We don't live forever so we have to enjoy every moment.
At some point, we end up on the graph of mortality.
But we don't see that yet and laugh at common useless things.
We are walking zombies with electronics.
I mean, C’mon. We confine ourselves in social media and apps.
I used to be worried about what people said and did that involved me.
But not anymore because If I look past the forest of darkness,
I’ll see all the innocent children on Cloud Nine.
Playing with no worries and screaming out loud.
Those are the days where I smile the brightest.
It reminds of who I am and where I came from.
Because no matter where I go or what I do, pain will always be there.
So let me give myself a reality check:
The world is cruel but also sweet,
But I’ll make sure to stay on the train back home,
Make sure I don’t fall into the cracks or slip away from the tracks.
And when I get home safe and sound each time, I know that I am fearless.
