The Reality of Growing Up
"Where are you going for college?"
"I'm going to Harvard."
"I'm going to University of Florida."
"I'm going to Ohio State."
"Graduation is on Saturday,
don't be late."
"Don't forget to turn in your transcripts."
"Did you apply for 20,000 scholarships yet?"
We are here, we are finally here.
Growing up leaving mom's house,
Getting thrust into real life.
New responsibilities,
Harder Classes,
The working life.
Time goes by so fast.
Its like a lightning bolt,
We hear the thunder so we know its coming,
But when it does it flashes at the blinking of an eye,
And maybe sometimes two.
Before we know it'll be another graduation,
And it won't be high school it'll be college.
Then my marriage to a beautiful husband inside and out,
And I can wait, don't think I can't,
Till the day a little child is calling me mommy,
Not the lady who's already grown,
But me,
Cause I'll already be grown.
Graduation time again,
This time for my first born
Whom I'll love dearly.
It all happens so fast,
But lesson be learned,
Make sure its enjoyed.
