The Reality of Pocahontas

Pocahontas lived in a quant village

Till the Englishmen came, ransacked, and pillaged.

John Smith told the story,

As they looked for God, gold, and glory,

And reveled in their natural- born privilege.

As Englishmen raided cornstalks,

Villagers suffered and died of small pox.

Smith took all the food he could steal

And brought to the New World guns, germs, and steel.

Leaving Pocahontas diseased and shocked.

Powhatan yearned for a fight

To lessen his plight,

And Englishmen came in hoards,

Arrows against swords,

And silenced the village in the night.
