Realization

When my mother looks at me, what does she see?

A successful young woman destined for greatness

She's lifted my spirits when I felt like giving up

My protector, shield and cover

I’ve seen all her phases

The Good, Bad, and the Beautiful

She tells me what I need to hear not what I want to hear

Without her, I don't know where I’d be

To my dad, no matter how old I get

He’ll always know I’m his baby girl

He taught me to always follow my dreams even if they’re far beyond my reach

My teacher, friend and role model

Not once has he left my side

When he’s with me, I can't help but to smile

We’ve been through fair weather and hellfire together

Without him, I wouldn't have the strength to carry on

What about the little ones I swore to protect… who do they see?

A loveable leader they can follow, someone they admire

There's never a dull moment when we’re together

Precious memories will continue to carve our futures

Life without them is a life without reason

But, who is staring back at me through the mirror?

Just an average girl with her thoughts in outer space

A teen with no ambitions, she just wants to sleep

Hides behind the stories of fiction because she's too scared to join reality

This girl is losing a race that hasn't even started

She kinda looks like me…
