Realization of Self Worth

I was an invisible necessity 

Known for being needed 

Using my quiet heart to heal loud testimonies 

While I screamed out

Unheard because all destinies 

Came before my own 

Taking a toll 

To know my soul is sold to the ones 

Who never saw the inside at all

Months of wondering if I was worth it 

Mistakenly using beady eyes as my mirror 

Used the flaws you pointed out 

As self reflections and a ruined future

When you left I realized 

I missed the girl  I had hidden

Deep in the depths of everyone’s  submission

I yearned to heal the scars within me 

To use my own bright eyes as a source 

Of progress and faith in myself 

 To fix the insecurities that made me whole inside

My light now shines bright enough for all to see

My eyes a window to my sweet soul 

Taken back from those who stole it 

My skin shows the scars of the past now healed 

Realizing worth took time and adjustment 

But knowing my future is full is enough to never look back 

To stay on my beautiful track
