Realizing My Existence

The day that my blank canvas of innocence was stained,

with voices and words that only caused pain.

The day that I realized that nobody cared,

was the day that I realized that life isnt fair.

When you're younger you find joy in things that didn't matter.

Not knowing that one day your joy would be shatter.

These pieces we pick up when we're older,

sometimes feels like a boulder.

This boulder we carry on our shoulders,

will one day slip and make us feel colder.

Not knowing the warmth that these memories provided,

will one day leave us misguided.

If you lose sight of the memories that shaped you in the past.

Nothing you do in the future will ever last.

We should hold on tight,

to the things that will bring us light

I am no longer the  same person I was before,

and sometimes I feel as if I need more.

What I need to do is move forward,

but I must look backwards.

To never forget the things that made me,

the simple words my mother told me when i was a baby.

Our childhood is what molds us,

And our morals help us adjust.

To the world we never would've expected,

that would have so many objectives.

To build us up,

and break us down.
