Realizing the Unimaginable

As a child, we laugh and love with every inch of our soul.

We meet a friend and call her “best friend,” together our imaginations running wild!

It’s all giggles and talk of future plans and the desires of “when we grow up...”

We believe in the fairytales.

We believe in each other.

Suddenly, we start to argue, screaming words of hate, turning away and abandoning the friendship we built.

We replaced the laughing with crying and the love with heartbreak.

I find myself wishing “ we’d never grown up...”

Because in a world where the fairytales are just stories, you don’t love me anymore and we are no longer friends, just strangers.

We forgot how to laugh.

We forgot how love.

We forgot how to believe in one another.

Our imaginations are stuck trying to realize the unimaginable.
