The Realm of Tales
Once upon a time…
There was a girl,
And within her,
A thousand souls lived and breathed.
And as she walked the halls of her
Small-town public high school,
She walked the fragile lives of the
Characters from One Foot in Eden.
She felt the voracious egos of the
Mister and Missus Macbeth;
She dreamt the nightmares
Winston Smith did of Big Brother;
She understood the whirlpool of
Victor Frankenstein’s contrasting emotions;
She slowly grasped the innocence of
Jay Gatsby;
And the lives that resided within her,
Gradually shaped the girl that
Walked the halls of her
Small-town public high school
Into a reader who
Experienced many, many lives.
With these sighing souls
Diligently wrapping her heart
With threads of love,
Care, and Compassion
She became a young woman,
Who walks the hallways of her
Small-town public high school
With each story imprinted
In her character.
In each life I lived,
I became who I am.
A Reader.
