The Reason I Sing

The reason why I sing Is because it bring me joy I sing to bring life to the non-living I sing to communicate I sing when I'm down and it lifts me up The reason I sing Because thats all I know It gives me some certain type of empowerment who wouldn't want to feel that way when I sing I can make people feel good I can make them understand me The reason I sing Is because it expresses me!

I love to hear about people finding something that really moves their soul and that is why I like this poem. You have written your thoughts very plainly and, in many cases, that is what can make or break a poem (or anything else!) because the reader can easily understand what you are saying. What if you took your writing to the next level though by adding a metaphor, maybe a couple similes, and some imagery? You could do so by answering questions like: 1. What does singing do to your mood? 2. Before a performance, what are your emotions (excited, scared, nervous, all of the above)? Maybe even write about the first time you ever sung in front of an audience. I'd love to read any further poems that you post. Please don't hesitate to comment on any of mine asking for more feedback! :)
