The Reason for Treason - Because I Love You

Love is a jewel, so sweet - so rare

That it is kept for oneself, and seldom shared

Imprisoned within the cage of a cell

Where it acts as a heaven to a grieving hell

Slowly convincing the walls of the jail -

To release the waves and let the ship sail.

Love is a healer to one crippled by disease

It's a cure for the war to find its own peace

Giving hope, to those that lost their chance

By forgiving mistakes and joining hands

And in this choice the spirits dance

And life blossoms in barren lands.

Love is joy, and love is tears

The memories of life through many years

Love is the courage to face your fears

Knowing that they will always be near.

Love is when halves become a whole

When joy and peace fill your soul

Love is a feeling, a certainity you know

As you promise each other together you'll grow

Through health and sickness and all ups and downs

Through nights of silence and days of sound -

My dearest love, together we'll be

And for eternity - together we'll see

The future unfold - together as two,

I don't need to say it, you know I love you.

But in another life, love was a knife

Poisoned with envy, disguised in friendly

Behaviors and comments, too good to be true

Convincing, conniving - "because I love you"

Drawing you into a sticky dark web

Trapping you deep within its depths

Twisting your mind, reasoning and heart

As your self respect drifts further apart.

Aware and scared, yet fulfilling through resign

Doing their bidding in a sneaky design

Reign your emotions, control - you are mine

And now, you are trapped, you missed all the signs.

Lies under love

Envy under love

Anger under love

Control under love

Cheating under love

Manipulation under love

Abuse is NEVER love.

Beware of the signs - of a fake lover's treason

Because I love you - should never be a reason.
