The Reason Why

AS I sit here thinking

Writing these applications

Waiting for an answer

Either a Yes, No, or Not Right Now

I wonder why I do this

Why I let this consume me

Why I let this tear me apart

Why I let this cause me pain

….But then I look up

I see them

I see the struggle they had

I see their tired eyes and smiles

I see them fight

Fight for me and my siblings

They came to this country

To give us this opportunity

I realized

Why I let this consume me

Why I let this tear me apart

Why I let this cause me pain

Because they love me

Because I AM THEIR CHILD.
