The Reasonable Tree

There was once a tree... and she loved a little boy. She let the boy take some of her leaves, but not too many, because they were hers after all, and she didnt want to give them all away. They would play together and the boy slept under her shade, and the boy loved the tree very much. The boy grew older, and he told the tree he needed some money. The tree offered to let the boy sell some of her apples in town. The boy took some apples, but the tree kept some of her own, because she didnt want to give away ALL of her apples. The boy grew older, and he wanted to start a family. He asked the tree, "May I use some of your branches to build a house?" "Sure, you may use some of my branches to build a house, but you cannot have all of them because I want to keep some to myself." The boy built a house and lived his life there for a long time. The boy comes back to the tree when he is old, and the boy asks the tree," Can I use some of your trunk to build a boat? "You may use half the my trunk, but I would like to keep the other half." The boy responded, " Sure, that seems fair to me." The boy chopped down half of the trees trunk, and used it to build a boat, and the boy sailed away.
