Reasons II

The wind carries the scent of cedar on the breeze.

I want to beg you not to leave.

Just when I had fallen,

You came to pick me up from the ground,

Your words carefully guiding me back,

To the places I had forgotten.

I didn’t want to say anything,

Afraid to ruin the moment,

Until you spoke.

Did you know the light of the stars,

Takes so long to get to earth,

That right now we’re seeing the stars,

From thousands of years ago?

Yes. I had read that somewhere.

And maybe the brightest stars are supernovas

And we’re watching them as they die

A thousand years ago?

It’s possible.

It’s Thursday night,

(Now Friday morning),

And we are wasting time,

Talking about the stars.
