A Reassuring Hand

At times I feel I'm all alone

and no one cares to hear me.

I feel upset, and yet I find

that none will even near me.

I quite simply want some comfort,

a reassuring hand,

but people will not help me,

and no one understands.

At last I feel I'm broken,

I give into despair.

That's when I think of poetry,

and my feelings I then share.

Though none will get my meaning,

it matters not to me,

as long as I can understand

the others need not see.

Regardless of what happened,

or what I had been through,

my words became an outlet

when nothing else would do.

I reflect on things gone by,

and recall my bitter pain,

and think upon my poetry,

which helped me to stay sane.
