Reborn

Take off the blindfold

Now step out of the dark.

Look out into the open space

Tell me what you’re going to do next.

What do you see now, that you’ve never seen before?

Listen to the sound of your heart, and the sound of your breath

Accept your fate and stress will dissipate, each time more

Tell me how you feel when you’ve never felt before.

I take these steps like my very first ones.

Thunder in my chest and lightning in my eyes,

New energy overflows turning into tears.

Running, running, running away my mind races;

Into a new boundary that calls my name.

That my spirit, it chases.

My vision is weak but it doesn’t stop me.

I’ve seen what has been,

I’ll see what will be,

I see right now.

Believe what you feel in the time it arrives,

I can’t deliver a specific date

But you will know

Promising you won’t ignore it,

The chance to be reborn

A new perspective awaits,

My voice breaks through concrete walls,

Still keeping up the one around my heart.

Like the milky way in our solar system

My body and mind become a galaxy,

Shining bright in the darkest nights

Watch the stars in my eyes collide.

There’s strength that I’ve found

Not in my muscles but in myself.

Confidence still wears lightly

still more to be found

In these baby steps that I take

I am reborn.
