Reborn, Renewed, Reformed
The tears I've shed
over the years have led
to the growth of my fears and then--
Blossoming.
The Earth's womb hailed
a woman, whom unveiled,
embraces her African ascendants within,
and despite the decadance of her skin,
will continue to fight with her sword of choice:
the pen, which has given her a voice.
She builds her kingdom on these words
making clear a line that has once been blurred,
making clear she has a voice that deserves to be heard
making her embrace the terrors she once deferred--
And she takes them, and makes them hers.
Renewal, rebirth, reform:
Spurred by the poetry she held onto through the storm.
