RECKLESS people

To whom it may concern:

you left me -- all alone,

out in the rain

you left me feeling naked

not in body, but in mind.

my clothes drenched, my body shivering

trying to piece together broken thoughts

but nothing is working, nothing.

I persist to try to piece together any semblance of my old self

my happy self, before you.

take these venomous memories,

you can have them

because they're yours.

I attempt to move forward,

away from the one who hurts me most

But I can’t, you keep pulling me back.

like falling into a pit of darkness and despair

with no escape - NO, I can’t escape

because you won’t let me.

encased in your web of lies

your shallow promises that you break

every chance you get

I realize my error now

I finally realize, I don’t love you
