Reconciliation

How can You just spectate this shameful game?
Sit back and watch Your creation go down the drain
As they pass the torch of Hell’s burning flame
Is this somehow my fault? Or, who’s to blame? You’ve let this game go on too long
Players are getting careless and their form’s all wrong
Like children, they made up and added rules on
But who’s gonna tell them no team has won? Like every other sport, this game just evolved
As it progressed it turned into a glorified brawl
Where jersey color was the premise to get involved
The players were trapped; to everyone’s life the game revolved Many tried to get the game to end
But even if key players don’t contend
The minutes on the game’s clock continue to spend
And the team rivalries seem impossible to amend Seeking power and revenge they continue to play
Finding personal victories in other’s dismay
But You noticed who is the real enemy:
The intangible – the idea – the structure – the Game It won’t stop, the game will never be gone
But if the players direct their power upon
A united challenge, a reconciliation marathon
Could there be a game where teams get along? To change a game we’ll start at a crawl
Bad habits will break in practice and new ones installed
A day to day process until the tensions dissolve
Realize imperfections, forgive and stand tall In my last minutes of the game a prayer I will send
To You I ask to look past the sins You’ve condemned
My past is far from perfect, but I now will defend
Devoting the game to You and wear a jersey color blend.
