Reconciliation
Growing up is accepting.
Seeing their wrinkles clearly.
Guilt is acknowledging their hardship after years of rejecting.
Growing up was learning and testing
Their love when I was loving just barely.
Growing up is accepting.
I disregarded their caring
Because I thought they treated us siblings unfairly.
Guilt is acknowledging their hardship after years of rejecting.
While I was working for my American identity, they were protecting
Me who was ignorant of the financial hardships and crimes in the city.
Growing up is accepting.
Seeing them now I’m more respecting.
My generation is tasked with crisis of identity, theirs was of survival and fighting fiercely.
Guilt is acknowledging their hardship after years of rejecting.
Now my attempts lay in connecting.
Listening. Acting maturely.
Growing up is accepting.
Guilt is acknowledging their hardship after years of rejecting.
