Reconsider

I want you to reconsider your stance on gun rights

‘Cause while we just want our rights

The people getting shot just want to live their life

Yeah, I know about the 2nd amendment

But aren’t we talking about people’s lives?

I heard about this school where someone angry shot everyone in sight

It rattled the nation and left us wondering how to combat this fight

Then I heard, “Let’s put more guns and we’ll surely be smarter in hindsight!

If we shoot the shooter and avoid this catastrophe

Maybe one day we can live in safety.”

Great idea! That’s cool, ‘cause there’s this lunatic shooting down the mall in the city

So let’s just give all the employees firearms and assume they will have pity

Let’s assume that the only people with pent-up anger are those criminals who get a gun

The point is, what makes us different from that guy who just killed one hundred?

Is it just that he got a gun and we were never got offered?

That April shooting in Fort Hood was done by a soldier.

His job is to serve and protect the commoners

If a guy like him is capable of such sin,

Why are we any better than him?

All it takes is some anger to build like a volcano

And then, boom, you explode like Beethoven on the piano

And yeah, I know that murder is not the only intent,

Hunting and target practice are quite popular in these parts

But, do you really need a machine gun to catch a deer?

I’m not trying to take away your fun

I’m just trying to make the world a little less perilous

Maybe if we checked Johnny’s bad background before selling him a gun, we’d be better off

Maybe if only less powerful guns were available to civilians, things would be a little better

I want you to reconsider your stance on gun rights.
